We are studying English now!
For most of the kids, this is their first contact with the English language. It's very interesting to realize how they communicate with their teachers in the beginning of the year and how they start figuring out the new language.
When the teacher said that something was red, one of the students replied:
“Não é red, é vermelho!”
Students answered a question in Portuguese and the teacher asked them to use the new language.
Teacher: “What color is this, kids?”
Students: “Vermelho.”
Teacher: “In English.”
Some students: “English!”

Although it might seem difficult at first, soon they start taking risks using English.
They started naming colors: colors around the school, the color of their hair, the color of their eyes. When looking for things around the school, students realized: “tem um monte de coisa green na escola, teacher!” They also realized green was the main color on St. Patrick’s Day!

Next, they talked about family members. Besides describing them, they found out that there are many coincidences and differences - names, numbers of brothers and sisters, appearance…

Para a maioria dos alunos, esse é o primeiro contato com a lingual inglesa, então são muitas as novidades… “não é red, é vermelho!”, ou “what color is this, kids?” “vermelho”. “No, in English” “English”!
Começamos falando sobre as cores: cores que encontramos na escola, dos cabelos, dos olhos… Quando procuramos por coisas na escola, os alunos perceberam que “tem um monte de coisa green na escola”. E eles também perceberam que o verde é a cor predominante no St. Patrick’s Day!
Depois, falamos sobre os membros da família. Vimos as fotos das famílias e eles descobriram que há coincidências e diferenças. “Minha mommy tem olhos black!” “Minha mommy também!”
Em classe, eles brincaram com as cores - I see something blue. Veja os vídeos. Depois, brinque e cante com o seu filho também! Quantas cores você vê em sua casa? Qual é a cor do seu cabelo? E dos seus olhos?
